Welcome to George Washington Carver School of Arts and Science

George Washington Carver School of Arts and Science (GWC) is the first public Waldorf High School in the country. At Carver, we aim to engage our students with a dynamic and enriching curriculum that inspires critical thinking and creativity with a hands-on approach. Supporting community, interdependence, independence and freedom to be oneself is at the heart of Carver's social dynamics. At Carver, our academics challenge students to explore, learn, and create how they want to engage the world.

Visual and Performing Arts

The arts are everywhere on Carver's campus. Every class is integrated with art, which encourages students to express themselves in creative ways. Students in all grades have the opportunity to work together to put together a Fall play in partnership with NorCal Arts.

Athletics

Carver offers co-ed soccer, volleyball, and basketball teams and play against other small schools in SCUSD. Carver is the reigning back to back basketball champions! Students are also welcome to try out for their homeschool teams.

Academic Programs

Carver is a Waldorf-inspired school where students are hands-on with the world around them. Students can earn college credit with dual enrollment classes, all in a tight-knit community where students make meaningful connections with classmates and teachers lasting years after they graduate.
