Welcome to George Washington Carver School of Arts and Science

George Washington Carver School of Arts and Science (GWC) is the first public Waldorf High School in the country. At GWC we aim to engage our students with a dynamic and enriching curriculum that inspires critical thinking and creativity with a hands-on approach. Supporting community, interdependence, independence and freedom to be oneself is at the heart of GWC's social dynamics. At GWC our academics challenge students to explore, learn, and create how they want to engage the world.

Academic Programs

No matter what your student's interests, strengths, passions, or grade level are, Sac City Unified has a school program that fits their needs. From dual immersion, to International Baccalaureate, to Waldorf-inspired, to specialized college and career pathways, we offer something for every learner.

Visual and Performing Arts

Visual and performing arts enrich TK–12 students’ lives by fostering creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking. Through music, dance, theater, and visual arts, students build confidence, improve collaboration and communication skills, and deepen cultural awareness.
